On 16 October 2014 the National Assembly Committee for Sciences, Technology and Environment in cooperation with Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Southeast Asia hosted the workshop “International experiences in the promulgation and implementation of policies in response to climate change and practices in Vietnam”.
The workshop was attended by approx. 60 participants amongst those were members of the National Assembly, members of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and Council as well as researchers. A wide range of climate policy issues was addressed mainly focusing on climate protection and climate change adaptation, including Germany’s energy transition, energy efficiency, coastal area protection and water issues, agriculture and financing of adaptation and protection measures. The need for a more participatory and joint approach to deal with climate change in Vietnam which includes the voice of the people was also stressed. For Vietnam being most vulnerable to the rising sea level it is an urgent matter to find solutions and to act now.
